Pittsburgh investment CEO joins Thiel College Board of Trustees

GREENVILLE, Pa. - April 28, 2020 - Catherine Mott, chief executive officer of a multi-million dollar investment firm, has rejoined the Thiel College Board of Trustees.

Mott is the chief executive officer and founder of Blue Tree Venture Fund and Blue Tree Allied Angels. Mott also served on the College's Board of Trustees from 2008–2017. The two BlueTree entities have a combined $50 million under management and have notable portfolio companies acquired by Fortune 500 companies such as Intel, Amazon, Proofpoint, Philips, and Expedia. Mott's business is based in Pittsburgh, Pa., and she lives in Mercer, Pa., with her husband, John Logan '65, a Thiel College (https://www.thiel.edu/) graduate and former faculty member.

Mott is the past chairman of the Angel Capital Association and the Angel Resource Institute. She is serving her fourth term as one of 21 individuals selected for the SEC Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies. Her professional awards and recognitions include being named Thiel College's Haller Enterprise Institute Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018; the Hans Severeins Angel of the Year, Pittsburgh Business Times Women First Award and Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association Impact Award.

Before forming her own business, Mott worked 17 years in corporate banking management where she served in senior management roles for investment sales/wealth management, commercial lending, business development, and retail expansion. Today, Mott uses these experiences and her education to bring together capital and prime investment opportunities.

She holds an M.B.A. as well as bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
