Michaels Jewelers Has Temporarily Closed Most Stores-Continues To Buy Gold & Jewelry In Three Stores

CANTON, Conn. - March 19, 2020 - Michaels Jewelers, one of Connecticut's biggest names in retail, has temporarily closed all their locations through April 1st in response to directives from the CDC regarding the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus.

The stores will remain closed for as long as mandated by the State, however, Michaels Jewelers will continue to buy gold and jewelry from customers in need of cash in their non-mall-location stores in Danbury, Orange and Canton.

"The health and well-being of our customers and employees are paramount to our focus during these unprecedented times. We are monitoring the decisions of our Federal and State leaders as well as coordinating with our landlords and supply chain," said Camile Hannoush, Michaels Jewelers President. He will continue to pay for health insurance for all employees during the temporary layoff.

In an important step, the Michaels Jewelers stores that are not located in malls, their Danbury, Canton, and Orange locations, will continue to buy gold and jewelry from customers who want to sell unwanted gold and jewelry to provide a much-needed immediate cash infusion for individuals and families.

This program will be offered at three locations that are best suited for managing the small number of customers at a time, in a disinfected, properly sanitized environment. Operating hours at the three Michaels Jewelers stores will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Further information on this program is available at https://www.michaelsjewelers.com.

"We realize that families are nervous about where money will come from during this crisis. Our program can be transacted remotely and will be a boost for those seeking a source for cash relief," stated Hannoush. He stressed that it is imperative that people work directly with Michaels Jewelers staff which has a secure transaction system in place.

"We will do all we can to manage this crisis together as one", stated Camile Hannoush.

Michaels Jewelers is a 135 year-old retail brand with 10 locations, primarily in Connecticut. It was acquired in 2019 by its president, Camile Hannoush, an experienced businessman with more than 40 years of retail jewelry store ownership and multi-store retail operations experience.
