14th BioPlastics Market Highlights Growing Role of Bioplastics in a Circular Economy

BANGKOK - Jan. 28, 2020 - Sustainability and circular economy have become more pertinent than ever before and this Bangkok summit brings together key stakeholders to discuss possible long term solutions with bioplastics. On top of an opening keynote presentation by Ho Ren Hua, CEO of Thai Wah Public Company Limited - TWPC (Corporate Sponsor), the summit has also roped in three major brand owners to share their initiatives in using bioplastics to meet circular economy goals.

PepsiCo reveals the brand's snacks packaging initiatives focusing on transitioning from fossil based plastics to bioplastics and highlighting implementation challenges and opportunities. Ford Motor China is to share a session on 'Bio-Based Engineering Plastics in Automotive Parts' while athletic footwear manufacturer - New Balance will provide details on 'Innovation Model, Infrastructure & Approach'.

In line with growing brand owners committing to using circular economy approaches, Nexant offers a fresh perspective on the 'Bioplastics Prospects within a Circular Economy and Sustainable Future' while NatureWorks presents the 'Step-Changes in Creating a Circular Economy for Biomaterials'. Braskem to share details on new initiatives to close the loop for bio-PE and other bioplastics materials.

The March event also features several case study sessions focusing on bioplastics commercialisation activities across regions – Arkema's new world-scale bio-PA plant in Singapore, Avantium's PEF plant updates, UPM Raflatac's recent launch of industry's first wood-based label material.

In addition, a panel discussion on 'Emerging Renewable Feedstocks, Sustainable Supply & Conversion Economics' is led by panelists from TWPC, Arkema and other companies.
