SAN DIEGO - Jan. 16, 2020 - Molecular Depot introduces a new highly purified native protein: Cholesterol Oxidase from Streptomyces sp.
Cholesterol oxidase is a flavoprotein involved in the first step of cholesterol catabolism. The enzyme first oxidizes cholesterol to cholest-5-en-3-one then isomerizes it to cholest-4-en-3-one while producing hydrogen peroxide H2O2. Available in a 250 Units and custom bulk sizes:
Catalog # P2010002
Size 250 U
Molecular Weight 34 kDa
Reaction catalyzed Cholesterol + O₂ –> Cholest-4-en-3-one + H₂O₂
Unit Definition One enzymatic unit of cholesterol oxidase converts 1.0 μmole of cholesterol to 4-cholesten-3-one per min at pH 7.5 at 25 °C.
Specific Activity 21 U/mg
Storage -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Supplied as Yellow lyophilized powder (11.9 mg).
