Historic British Mini Automobile Honored by 60th Anniversary with Car Shows, Races and Awards

PORTLAND, Ore. - Dec. 20, 2019 - The 60th Anniversary Mini Commemoration of the legendary British car's birthday is recorded in a free bonus issue from the Oregon Mini Society. Activities covered include the largest All British Field Meet in North America, Vintage Races, Giant Slalom, Car Show judging, and more.

The iconic British marque that revolutionized automotive design beginning in 1959 is one of the world's most successful, and copied cars. Over 10 million have been sold to date. The design was proven around the world on some of the most significant racing and rally circuits by many of the world's best race drivers, including several Formula One World Champions.

Car clubs in the Northwest United States took the lead in celebrating the anniversary at the recent 43rd Annual All British Field Meet (ABFM) with over 800 vehicles of all types on display at Portland International Raceway in Portland, OR. The vintage car races were organized by the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts (SOVREN) and featured a special race group specifically for racing Minis from 1959 to 2000.

"This special bonus issue of the Oregon Mini Society (OMS) Magazine honors not only this historic automobile but the people behind its creation and those who perpetuates its legend to this day," explained OMS Vice President and ABFM organizer Eric Newland. "We've made this special issue available to members and non-members alike who continue to restore and drive the classic Mini of 1959 to 2000, but also the new MINI of 2001 to this present day. It's created by an award-winning motorsports journalist and champion race driver."

This issue is available online to the public and to OMS members at https://issuu.com/randyuns/docs/oms_nov_dec_2019_finalissuu

OMS partners and enthusiasts who made the issue possible include MINI of Portland, Mini Mania, Jet Motors, Seven Mini Parts, and Hagerty.
