Artist Frank Kelley, Jr. to Exhibit at the 2nd Annual GSU President's Art Show & Reception

GRAMBLING, La. - Oct. 29, 2019 - Since it's founding on November 1, 1901, Grambling State University has grown into an internationally renowned producer of African American leaders and a trendsetter for American culture.

On November 1, 2019, celebrating the university's 118th anniversary, Grambling Alumni and artist, Frank Kelley, Jr. will exhibit his work at the 2nd Annual GSU President's Art Show & Reception. This exclusive event will showcase many of Mr. Kelley's impressive collectible abstract pieces.

Taking his inspiration from Southern American landscapes and subject matter, Frank Kelley, Jr.'s work inspires, brings grace and highlights individuals of importance in American history, as well as those powerful, iconic images of our communities. His abstracts are powerful statement pieces that complete the decor of any well-designed room.

His unforgettable works of art can be found in the homes of well-known collectors, entertainers, museums, corporations, political figures and private collections across the world. His works have also been included in galleries in New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Detroit, Switzerland and more.

As an active alumnus, Kelly has donated new easels to the Art Department, raised over $4,000 from his custom print sales for the Friends of Art Foundation at Grambling and has provided internship opportunities for students of GSU and more.

"I am honored to be both alumni and to be asked to participate in this impressive event. GSU has a long-standing tradition of honoring our history with excellence," says Mr. Kelley.

GSU announced its 2019 Homecoming lineup will include headline performances by award-winning artists Monica, Joe and Ari Lennox at the "Vibe-ish" concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 1.

"This year the Grambling State homecoming made worldwide news before we shared the schedule," said President Rick Gallot. "We're excited to welcome a record number of brands, partners, and people to celebrate our global legacy and our Bring it Home Campaign."
