Hackers Breached Avast Internal Network through Compromised VPN Profile?

During this time, hackers logged into the Avast network seven times. They gained access to it thanks to taking over the VPN account. This account has been re-enabled as a result of an internal error.

Because of this mistake, there was no need for two-step verification when logging in to prevent such attacks. Users of Avast programs do not have to panically remove software from computers. The company assures that hackers have not managed to put threatening lines of code in their software.

Avast emphasized that CCleaner's code remained unchanged. Although the program was not infected in any way, the company preventively changed the digital signature of the executable file. The company has also taken precautionary measures to ensure that this does not happen again. A global password reset has been performed throughout the company. In addition, VPN accounts will be better guarded and covered by a two-step verification. It reassures that users of their applications have nothing to fear though.
