Bowls is Bowls, the organisation established to encourage all bowls organisations and bowlers of all ages, creeds, colour and abilities to work together, has announced two major tournament sponsorships for the 2019/20 season as part of its commitment to the promotion and development of the sport of Bowls.
Bowls is Bowls will now be the new sponsor for the Short Mat Players Tour (SMPT) Bowls is Bowls World Pairs and also the Bowls is Bowls World Fours. This sponsorship deal will see the SMPT working with “Bowls is Bowls” in the build-up to the tournament to promote Bowls in and around Falcon Indoor Bowls Club, which is based in Chelmsford, South Essex.
There are still some spots remaining for both the Bowls is Bowls World Fours and the Bowls is Bowls World Pairs. The two tournaments will be held on the 30th November and 1st December respectively.
The Short Mat Players Tour vision is to be the market leader in all aspects of short mat bowls, from staging premier bowls events through to implementing technological advancement and providing professional consultancy.
In a further sponsorship announcement and underlining Bowls is Bowls commitment and intention to promote the sport, it has also confirmed that Bowls is Bowls will be sponsoring The Open Singles Circuit (OSC) for the 2019/20 season.
Commenting on the announcement of the OSC sponsorship Boul Traders Chief Executive, Mark Courtney, whose brainchild Bowls is Bowls is, stated, "It is fantastic to be involved with the Open Singles Circuit organisation as it represents and promotes everything Bowls is Bowls incorporates. This is a bowls circuit that is available to everyone regardless of age, gender or disability and enables everyone to compete at the same level. We look forward to being part of another successful season and encourage anyone who has not entered an OSC competition to give it a go as not only is it a great opportunity to improve your game but also is a great social event.”
The Open Singles Circuit is a circuit of club owned and run open singles events throughout the UK, where all the results from all the events earn all the players ranking points which contribute to the OSC Rankings List. At the end of each season the top ranked players on the OSC Rankings List qualify for the Grand Final event, which is fully funded by OSC and updated live over the internet for bowls fans all over the world. OSC are supported by Potters Resort and the circuit is fully endorsed by the EIBA, who it works alongside to make OSC a success.
This latest news follows the launch day for Bowls is Bowls which was recently held in Daventry, Northamptonshire on 12th September. The ‘Bowls is Bowls’ launch day included various events in and around Daventry with Scottish bowling world-record breaking legend, Alex ‘Tattie’ Marshall MBE alongside another legendary medal-winning member of England’s Commonwealth Games bowls team, David Bolt ‘Bolty’.
The launch and subsequent events provided a clear statement of the organisations intention to bring all forms of Bowls at all levels and platforms together to help promote the sport, whilst demonstrating the openness and limitless opportunities for the sport to reach out into communities, via hospitals, care home facilities, youth clubs and other related areas.
