WILMINGTON, Del. - Aug. 24, 2019 - All-City Classic 302 League opening weekend: DSW and Chester did what they were expected to do while Drunk Monkey were full of surprises.
In Game 1, DSW punished BEST Squad 73-59. Tail Davis was Player of the Game with 3's, long 2's and pull up J's in defenders faces. It'll be a long season for Henry Ra and BEST Squad if they don't bring heart.
In Game 2, Chester got of to a good start for the season, defeating a tough Noble Nine, 59-51. Daryl Sanders was Player of the Game with 15pts, 7rebs, and 4assts. Bruce Caple also had 15pts, 5rebs, 2assts, 1stl, and a huge block sending someone's layup onto the stage. Chad Johnson scored 24ps, 7rebs, 2stls and a block, but didn't have support to win for Noble Nine
In Game 3, newcomers Drunk Monkey, surprised everyone with a win over Free Agents, 53-51. Sharp shooter Jake Royal was Player of the Game with 18pts, 3assts, 2rebs and 2stls. He got hot from the outside when it counted and it was lights out for Free Agents.
Games 4-6 needed to be postponed to later in season, due to adverse conditions.
PREDICTIONS for Week 2
Game 1: We will see newcomers Hall Law defeat Noble Nine by 17 points. An interesting first half, Noble Nine will lead, but closing games is an issue. They will lose the lead in the 3rd quarter, and never catch up.
Game 2, BEST Squad defeats newcomers Hard Work, 68-48, with 5 guys from BEST Squad in double figures. Gavin Bethell will have 10-12 rebounds.
Game 3. DSW wins over Playground Legends, 75-57. An old-fashioned pick-up game amongst good friends. Playground Legends will play hard in the first quarter but that's all. DSW will put them away early.
Game 4, Drunk Monkey pulls off a close one, defeating CDK 53-50. Jake Royal will be Player of the Game againk, with 20pts, 5rbs and 4assts.
Game 5, Chester kills Free Agents, 72-50. Bruce Caple will be Player of the Game, and Henry Ra will lead his team to it's second consecutive loss of the season.
Game 6, Clay City spanks Tigers, 65-49. Not a warm welcome for the newcomers.
ACC 302 are the BEST over 30 league in the tri-state. What other league gives you posters, press releases, website, postcards, video interviews, stats, full uniforms, regulation NBA-sized court for $60 a player? And the winning team walk away with $300. No other league does that.
