The goal is to add valuable information on safety tips while participating in water sports such as surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding.
Jeff Cole, owner, moved to Myrtle Beach when he was 9 years old and started surfing at the age of 12. It has been a 39 year love affair with the sport. In 1996 he and his wife, Rhonda, started Xtreme Surf & Skateboard Co. and sold it in 2006 to spend some time doing Missions in South Africa and Haiti. This summer he has the awesome opportunity to enjoy his first love of surfing and to share this wonderful life style to a new generation of surfers and Paddle boarders.
Downwind Surf and Paddleboard Company, located at 29th Ave South in Myrtle Beach, has the best surf break on the Grand Strand! Downwind Watersports, an affiliate partner, has been in Myrtle Beach since 1981. The staff at Downwind have spent their lives learning the way of life that is ocean living. They grew up surfing at Springmaid Beach, and it is a dream come true to open a surf school on the very break where they learned surfing.
Owner Jeff Cole says, The Downwind staff is excited about the adventure ahead of them teaching the sport they love to people who share a mutual pull to the surf lifestyle. They not only teach their students a sport, but also to respect the ocean and the surf culture to be able to give them what the staff hopes is an awesome adventure and the beginning of a lifetime of good memories with the ocean.
On the new website, a visitor will find relevant information on tips and safety when participating in local water sports. Contact information is also available to schedule surfing or paddleboarding lessons or to rent water sports equipment by the hour, half day or full day.
