Mizner Country Club Adds Advanced Security

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - July 25, 2019 - Security has become the buzzword for this generation. From computer hacks to break-ins, area residents have become all too aware of the problems we face when it comes to the security of our families and our personal effects. One Delray Beach community has taken bold steps to meet the challenge head-on by investing in its security. The Homeowners' Association (HOA) at Mizner Country Club has made a very significant investment in upgrading its security systems with a technologically advanced system that includes a series of infrared cameras and military grade ground sensors.

"This investment has given Mizner's Security extensive improvements from gate access control to the ability to continuously monitor the perimeter of our community around the clock from our Gatehouse Command Center, even during periods of power outages," describes Dr. Steven Michaels, Mizner Country Club's HOA President.

According to Major Gordon Llewellyn, Mizner's Director of Security, "It's like having a whole battalion of automated security guards watching the perimeter 24 hours a day, seven days a week." Llewellyn noted that in the coming months, additional ground sensors will be added, providing additional protection.

"While the ground sensors are a just-released technology to the civilian security market, they are a proven technology with more than 50,000 military and governmental sensor emplacements worldwide," said Llewellyn. "In fact, Mizner Country Club is the only country club resort community in the US that has these ground sensors installed. Mizner is leading the pace in this whole area of enhanced security," he said.

Mizner Security Command Center looks more like a NASA control room than your average security station at any other gated community. And while having an advanced system is a huge benefit, Mizner's team of well-trained experts play an even more critical role of the overall security of the Mizner residents.

The Mizner security team is made up of strategically trained former law enforcement officers, military personnel and recent criminal justice graduates. Larry Savvides, Mizner Country Club's General Manager, notes "They are also very much steeped in a culture of preparedness and situational awareness." He refers to it as "tactical security."

"Our team is trained on a tactical response, trained on patterns of movement, and trained to use our technology to maneuver the bad guys into police custody," said Llewellyn. "We have spent weeks working with the Palm Beach Sheriff to provide a planned and coordinated quick response with local law enforcement. It's all about finding the threat before it finds our residents," said Llewellyn.

In fact, sensors and cameras around the perimeter can alert the team to trespassers coming toward the direction of the Club from up to a half-mile away.

Every house is also wired into the Mizner security system. The gatehouse receives the alarm at the same time ADT security receives the alarm. Because Mizner Security is on site, the response time is generally less than two minutes, often less than one minute.

"We know the difference between a four-legged dog out roaming, a giant palm frond falling and two bad guys who don't belong out there. The combined redundancy of our set of advanced warning technology is going to tell us when somebody is moving in and around our perimeter before they even get across the golf course," said Llewellyn. "With the ability to look out into the perimeter of the property, we're keeping bad people off our streets."

And, keeping our neighborhood and members safe is what it's all about for Mizner. For more information visit https://miznercc.org/
