BLAINE, Wash. - March 29, 2021 - Fawn Ventura, the founder of Amity Montessori, is a case-study in how people are adapting to life during the Coronavirus lockdown. She's a hands-on teacher who prides herself on giving kids the care & attention they need to succeed, but right now hands-on doesn't work. Like millions of other Americans, she's learning to use Zoom.
Ventura has launched a new online preschool service called Amity Montessori. This project allows her to continue teaching Montessori skills to children despite the current COVID-19 quarantine.
For Ventura, doing Zoom calls with her kids isn't about "working remotely". It's about connecting with people she loves & misses, and it gives her a sense of purpose as well. Instead of sitting at home reading online news stories about the Coronavirus, she's putting herself into work — focused on helping the kids as much as she can, even when she's not there.
The Coronavirus has brought a lot of change to our world, and it's also reminded us of the unsung heroes who need recognition: the doctors, nurses, emergency responders, and even grocery store employees who quietly risk their safety on our behalf.
Ventura doesn't consider herself a hero, but launching the online educational program does help her stay in touch with the children she teaches, and provides another avenue for quality preschool education for parents who are currently unable to take their child to a traditional preschool.
