Open enrollment for DOT consortium is taking place now

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Dec. 17, 2019 - FMCSA Clearinghouse go-live date is fast approaching

Employers and owner-operators can take advantage of the current open enrollment for DOT consortium period to help them remain compliant with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Open enrollment for DOT consortium makes it easier for employers and owner-operators to participate in random DOT drug and alcohol testing programs, along with assistance maintaining required testing records.

Wisconsin Drug Testing Consortium (WDTC), an accredited, Certified Third Party Administrator (C-TPA), offers superior program services that help fulfill DOT random drug testing rules and other DOT drug testing requirements. WDTC has been recognized by the Drug & Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) as being Nationally Accredited for Administration of Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs (NAADATP).

Joining a drug testing consortium does not relieve employers and owner-operators of all responsibility. However, open enrollment for DOT consortium provides an opportunity to leverage the expertise of a specialist such as WDTC to manage all or part of the DOT-mandated drug and alcohol testing program.

Register now for the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

The transportation industry is rapidly approaching the January 6, 2020, go-live date for the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, the new database established by the FMCSA. Owner-operators must designate an owner-operators consortium/TPA such as WDTC to comply with the employer's clearinghouse reporting requirements.

Authorized users are required to request access to the Clearinghouse by registering now at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/. The Clearinghouse database will provide FMCSA and employers the information they need to identify drivers who are prohibited from operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on public roads based on DOT drug and alcohol program violations.

The website includes information about query plans and frequently asked questions with regard to the Clearinghouse. Links to FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program resources such as DOT random drug testing rules also are available on the site.

Employers and drivers should not unsubscribe from emails pertaining to DOT regulations, the Clearinghouse or open enrollment for DOT consortium.
