Dominican cultural hub to host free social run/walk cultural event

NEW YORK - Oct. 28, 2019 - Little Dominican Republic, a new cultural corridor in Washington Heights' Inwood neighborhood, will host its first walk-run cultural tour.

Little Dominican Republic, located in Washington Heights' Inwood community, will host the inaugural "#MiLittleDR Social Run/Walk" Friday, Nov. 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event was organized by arts and culture hub CaribBEING, the organization that spearheaded the Little Dominican Republic initiative.

At #MiLittleDR Social Run/Walk, guests will join Dominican creatives Wilton Tejada, founder of WilPower, and Devin Osorio for an evening of Dominican food and cultural activities as the group tours the small businesses of the Little Dominican Republic district, also known as Little DR. The event is open to people of all ages and experience levels.

"I'm so excited to share a cafecito and many stories of #miLittleDR," Osorio said. "The Heights is my inspiration. It's my source of purest ease, and it's my home. I look forward to walking you through one of the greatest living rooms of NYC."

Wil Tejada, a fitness and wellness professional, said he looks forward to celebrating the cultural delights of the Dominican Republic while running through Little DR.

"As a running coach there is nothing greater than running in Washington Heights," he said. "The Heights is as close as it comes to the motherland. I look forward to sharing some of the folklore and fun that contributes to the magic of #miLittleDR."

Space is limited, so while the event is free, guests are strongly encouraged to claim a spot only if they are committed to attending. Learn more and register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/milittledr-social-runwalk-ti....
