How to fix hpboid.dll missing or failed to register errors in HP BIDI

The dynamic link library file hpboid.dll is the BIDI Channel Component installer module for HP products in Windows operating systems. The file being an important component of HP devices should not be tampered or damaged otherwise users will find themselves facing numerous problems. Let's take a look at them:-

Often after buying a new printer like HP Photosmart C5280 and trying to install the software and drivers from the original installation media, it has been seen that the installation of the printer fails because the module C:\Windows\system32\ hpboid.dll failed to register. Since trying to install again from the original disc also fails, a manual registration of the software using regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\hpboid-dll does not solve the issue either and ends up giving the error that the registration of the dll has failed with the error code 0x80020009.

The hpboid.dll file can go missing from computers either due to malware corruption or because of a system upgrade like from Windows Vista to Windows 7, and if that has happened then it has been seen that HP printers like c4280 which would print without errors over the wireless network with Windows Vista fails to print; and the printer queue gets deleted before the actual printing begins, whether it is connected directly or over the wireless network. The same has been seen with HP Laserjet 1320n printers and they refuse to print more than one copy of a file at a time when working with Windows 7.

Also if there were problems during installation of new printers then hpboid dll will not be found in the computer system attached to the printer. In Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1, the spooler crashing may cause new devices from being installed.

Whenever a new page or file is being printed it will turn up the error that the spooler service has stopped due to faulting application spoolsv.exe and the faulting module hpboid .dll.

The issues with corruption to the dll file don't end here. It has been seen that multiple rundll32.exe processes are found to be running due to hpboid.dll corruption and causing high CPU usage of up to 100 percent while playing games like Need For Speed and other or opening applications like Microsoft Outlook or Manga Studio V etc. This will either make the computer very slow or cause BSOD crashes with the error code being 0xC0000005.

The last but not least, hpboid.dll error that is seen often is the HP Bidi Channel Component Installer Error 2753 which makes printing a tedious job and every page or file either fails to get printed or takes several minutes to print. This has been seen in Windows Server 2003 R3 with service pack 2 installed, Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10 and on checking the application log it can be seen that the installer error with event id 10005 has happened due to damaged hpboid files.
