How to find the perfect job in Africa

We all want the perfect job right, the perfect place to spend our days, working towards a goal we can relate to and with colleagues with which we share a common understanding of work and success. But what can help us to choose a better job when we're job hunting so we can land the perfect job in Africa?

Do we know enough about what makes us happy to be sure to go for the right position, choose the right company? At the end of the day, the decisions about where we will work is entirely up to us, so the pressure is there to choose right, and pick a place of work where our skill-set will shine.

When applying for any job, you need to question why you are even considering working for this company. Is it just another pay-raise that you are after, a change of scenery? It should be neither of those. The very important decision in your life should be directly connected to what you want to get out of life, and your pursuit of happiness.

When it comes to how to find the perfect job in Africa, there are a few great tips we can take on board:

Firstly, you may think that if you could just get an easier, less stressful job that you will be happy, but studies have shown that people require jobs that not only challenge them but engage their unique skills set. So the job should be neither too hard so we end up giving up, or too easy that we get bored. The job also needs to provide you with constant feedback so you can gauge progress.

Another thing to consider is how long it takes you to get to work. A recent study has proven that people require a 40% salary increase to regain the levels of happiness they possessed before having to get used to a long commute at a new job. That’s a big chunk of cash just to get back to that level of happiness. The same can be said of moving away from our loved ones or support system, so if these are you options, then you'll need at least a 40% pay hike to get you smiling when you are in your new job.

Once you've bagged that perfect position that challenges you on every level, and your office is close to your home, you need to remember this bit. Take that vacation. A Danish study has shown that we get most satisfaction from an average of six weeks' vacation per year. So take whatever vacation you can.
