How to Analyze Job satisfaction Factors

We have research in many companies and found one worker, from where we get the ideas of job satisfaction factors.

Sayli is working in an educational institution. She is there in the institute for last five years. Her organization has given her a responsibility of an entire unit. She is working as a Head of Department, though her department is a small unit as compared to other colleges of the organization. She does not get so much salary, but she is free to experiment new things. The management always shows complete trust on her and they never interfere in her work. Her boss is very supportive, and more than a boss, she is Sayli’s good friend. Teaching and writing are her flairs. She has been appointed as an official trainer of the entire organization. She trains the staff members and for that she is free to design study material. She has also been the mentor of some foreign students coming to the organization for internship. Sayli has a lot of scope to show her innovativeness. Her job ensures full scope to her skills and knowledge. Her job has given her many new opportunities which have added different skills in her resume. After every staff training batch, she is rewarded with a certificate and a congratulation letter by her management. Even if she works independently with no one’s interference, she never feels like sink or swim.

Social recognition, social contacts and good interpersonal relationship are some of the key factors involved in job satisfaction. Sayli’s job is ideal in this matter. Though the monetary benefits are less as compared to Rajan or Rajesh in other cases, lot of opportunities have knocked her door. She can maintain good rapport with the people from different departments of the same organization. She has gained a status of a good trainer and a writer. She is respected by her colleagues, students and staff members. She has also been successful in establishing relationship on global level through her foreign interns.

According to Maslow’s theory the forth slab of human need is Self-esteem. Once the person’s financial need is fulfilled, he/she looks for self-esteem. The person cannot work in such environment where his self esteem is not nurtured and if it is being threatened, the person loses his satisfaction and his interest in the job. In case of Sayli, not many benefits are there. Others had no assurance of getting the salary in every month. Sayli is working on a comparative low salary. Though her job is permanent, after a certain age, she will be retired from her institution with no pension. Her salary is also not high as other workers. But still Sayli seems to be happy with her job. Here we can apply the top slab of Maslow’s hierarchy need pyramid, i.e. self actualization.
