How To Prepare a Home Remedy for Eczema

Also known as dermatitis, eczema is a skin inflammation characterized by itching, redness, dryness, skin bumps, and pain. It occurs in adults, small children, and babies. Eczema is considered a hereditary condition, but in many cases it is caused by excessive stress, exposure to heat, detergent residues, and allergies. It is also said to be aggravated by weather. Different dermatitis treatments are available in the market today. But because they commonly contain harsh chemicals, natural home treatments are considered a good alternative. Here is how to make home remedies for eczema.

Oatmeal bath treatment. An ancient skin treatment, oatmeal has cleaning and healing properties that can effectively treat eczema. It also has a soothing effect that eases pain away. To prepare the bath, simply fill your tub with tepid water. Add two cups of raw unflavored or colloidal oatmeal. If you want, you can grind the oatmeal first before putting it into the water. Agitate the water. When the bath is ready, dip yourself in for 15 to 25 minutes. Rinse yourself after, and then pat your skin dry.
Herbal cleanser. This cleanser has anti-inflammatory properties that will stop the inflammation, redness, and itching of the skin. To prepare, simply mix one teaspoon comfrey root, one teaspoon slippery elm bark, and one teaspoon white oat bark together. Add two cups water. Boil the mixture for a few minutes. Once it is cool, filter the solids. Now, use the mixture as a regular cleanser.

Herbal lotion. To prepare, crush spearmint leaves and dandelion leaves. Add a few drops of oil. Virgin oil is best to use, because of its notable healing properties. Mix the ingredients together and then apply the treatment to the affected area. Leave it there for around 30 minutes. Rinse the skin with cold water and pat it dry after. This herbal lotion will reduce inflammation and ease itching.
Cleansing scrub. This scrub will peel away dead skin cells without aggravating the skin inflammation. Prepare this scrub by first soaking nuts for a few minutes. Then grind them in a blender. Add a slice of avocado. Blend them together until the mixture achieves a creamy texture. Apply this to your skin in a massaging motion. Leave it there for 10 minutes. Rinse it with lukewarm water.
Papaya treatment. Widely known for its many skin benefits, papaya is considered an effective eczema treatment. To make a papaya treatment, you need to mash a handful of papaya seeds. Apply the seeds to the affected area and leave them for 10 minutes. Rinse after. The itchiness will subside after this treatment.
Cold compress. Dip a soft, clean washcloth in a bowl of cold water. Squeeze the excess water out. Then put the washcloth over the affected area. Moisten the washcloth as necessary. Apply a cold compress for 10 minutes to ease skin itching.

Remember that it is very important to consult your doctor or dermatologist if you want to try home eczema remedies. Never apply anything to your skin without a medical professional’s advice to prevent further inflammation.
