"PB & Jams" Event August 24th to Benefit Homeless in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. - Aug. 11, 2019 - A community service and networking event, PB & Jams, will be held at the Durham Arts Council's Allenton Gallery (120 Morris Street) on August 24th, to prepare sandwiches, write encouraging notes, and collect donations for the homeless in Durham. All proceeds and donations will go to Urban Ministries of Durham.

Last year's event brought in over $300 worth of donations to Urban Ministries and donated 300 sandwiches. The event will be presented by PB&Jams, a nonprofit founded by Chelsey Bentley Holts, the owner/founder of Nakoma Marketing + PR. Official event sponsors include Food Lion and the Art of Cool Festival.

Tickets are $3, with all proceeds being used to purchase sandwich-making supplies and items on Urban Ministries' wishlist. Wells and Alec Lomani from area label Immaculate Taste will DJ, and artists and vendors will have the opportunities to sell their goods to attendees.

This year the event seeks to additionally educate about healthy food choices and gardening on a budget. The event will feature juicing demonstrations and samples by Chef Abbi Jai, as well as tips to start a patio or indoor garden easily.

"I wanted to create something unique that allows people to have fun, but also help the community in an impactful way," said Chelsey Bentley Holts. "PB&Jams blends a family-friendly social aspect with community service. It's easier to give back when you're having fun doing so in an upbeat atmosphere. "

Sponsorship opportunities and vendor tables are still available for the event. To learn more and purchase, please visit the EventBrite link.
