Could There Be Competition on the Horizon for Nike in the Near Future?

ATLANTA - July 16, 2019 - The often overwhelming dominance of big brands in the athletic footwear and apparel markets have proven to be fierce competition for its lesser-known counterparts vying for attention in an already crowded space. New brands are proven to be no match for the publicly recognized brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma, who have seemly cemented their names in history. Nevertheless, a new brand of athletic footwear and sportswear is on the horizon and ready to take its place on the sports apparel field. Atlanta's newest startup, Dionies Sportswear is poised to take the big brands head on and introduce their unique line of footwear and athletic apparel to the general public.

Dionies, pronounced [dahy-oh-nees], is the concept of young Xavier Grimes who in 1984 chose a name that he defined as "Great Success". He would soon learn of the Greek origin of the name, derived from the name of the God of Wine, Dionysus. His idea 35 years in the making, is about to become his dream of a lifetime. Grimes has witnessed the evolution and unfortunate demise of other brands in this market, and believes now is the perfect time to introduce Dionies to the world.

But as fashion evolved, and while some brands have come and gone, Grimes continued to stand firm to the belief in his dream. "I drew my first sketch of Dionies when I was about 13 years old. I just wanted to bring something new to the world and figured I could. At the time I perfected the art of shoe design by tracing other shoes and adding my own style until I sketched over thirty pair. I knew what I was creating could be the next Nike, but the timing wasn't right. I didn't have the available resources as I do now to really make it happen," he says. "Besides, there's an entirely new market out here wearing the same thing my generation wore when I was a kid. So it's time to introduce that market to something new. And I hope they are receptive."

With hopes of becoming the next big brand, Dionies is in for a long journey with dreams of being the brand that will stand the test of time like Nike. Grimes understands the obstacles that lay ahead and knows it will be an uphill battle to reach that level. But he, also knows the time is now to bring something new to a brand weary athletic apparel market. It's time for Dionies to become the brand that takes center stage, and make a bold statement, thus making it the brands millennials will support, much like their parents did for Nike, Puma, and Adidas. Destine to take this market by storm, Dionies will be the ultimate athletic footwear and apparel for the new generation.
