India’s patriotic fervor took a turn with #SaluteSelfie this time around. The Twitter trend tied the entire nation into a strain of togetherness towards their men in uniform and leading it all was none other than the nation’s pride and joy, Amitabh Bachchan and one of the country’s largest conglomerates, Reliance Group.

And at the blink of an eye, the entire nation was swept over by the clarion call. From Bollywood celebrities to sportsmen, politicians, entrepreneurs and common folks—all jumped in, sending their selfies doing the salute.

The trend started off when Reliance Group posted a video urging the nation to come out in support of our armed forces with a selfie in the slaute pose. And with Big B obliged by being among the first few to have joined in, #SalueSelfie was on its way to striking an emotive chord across the nation. Selfies of people doing the salute pose and honoring the men in uniform started pouring in making #SaluteSelfie trend top not only Twitter but also Facebook.

“T 1954 - #SaluteSelfie ... salute to our brave jawans that keep us safe, with their sacrifice ..“

It was soon to be followed up with his father’s verse that read—

#SaluteSelfie ..salaam un virjawaanonkeprati .. poojyaBabujikeshabdonmein ..!” and #SaluteSelfie .. in respect and in honour for our brave ‘jawaans’ .. a few lines from my Father HRB’s poem !”
