Nearly a million international students were enrolled in American Universities last year, a number that has been steadily growing and is expected to continue to do so in the future. In Immigrant U, students share their experiences, culture and traditions, challenges and their hopes and dreams. This documentary was conceived and created by international students in an effort to break down barriers, dispel preconceived notions and ultimately build cultural bridges. If Immigrant U is to succeed and expand, it will need your help! We have set our goal at $20,000. Any contribution you are able to make will assist us in achieving this and would be greatly appreciated.

Our goal with this documentary and play piece, is to instill cultural competence. With your help, it will go on to be used in universities and schools for cultural awareness and diversity training for faculty and students; in speaking engagements concerning diversity and cross-cultural understanding; and on the web as an informative piece for future international students.

This documentary can be used as an aid to those who teach international students, as well as anyone who may interact with them. It can aid in developing an ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds, particularly in the context of human resources, non-profit organizations, academic institutions and government agencies whose employees work with persons from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The insight and honesty that can be gained by hearing from these students, in their own words, in their own way, is unlimited.
