RUNCORN, U.K. -- DESPITE a rapidly growing workload in business software development, the expert team at leading Cheshire-based IT company d3t Ltd continue to find time to make their very individual mark in the highly competitive computer games sector.
The Runcorn-based company has just announced the launch of Super Stardust Ultra, a spacecraft and meteor storm-packed adventure designed to keep the committed PS4 players on the edge of their seat.
Within minutes of its launch Social Media sites were inundated with countless welcome messages from eager fans determined to get their hands on d3t’s first gaming project of 2015, a promising sign of healthy sales ahead.
To mark the launch of Super Stardust Ultra, d3t Commercial Director Jamie Campbell and Development Director Steve Powell took their team for a celebratory afternoon of go-karting. They are regarded as gaming legends having been founder members of Warrington-based Juice Games in 2003 which later became THQ Digital Studios after an American buy-out in 2006.
In 2011 they set up d3t Ltd to offer state-of-the-art, high-tech development and programming services to a wide range of businesses across the UK and overseas but decided to continue to use their gaming expertise to produce one or two games per year in-house, while working as consultants on many more.
“Gaming is an area we know and love so we continue to be a little more active in that sector than we intended,” added Jamie, speaking from his office at The Heath Business Centre. “We undertook four major gaming projects in 2014 including the development of a virtual Battle of Bannockburn for a Scottish Museum.
“In 2013 we did three including ‘Chimpact’ for PlayStation Mobile and another three gaming projects in 2012. In fact we have created some 28 games over the past 20 years. So you could say gaming runs in our blood.”
Director Steve Powell admitted to being a committed computer gamer but pointed out that current games can push technology to the limits.
“The gaming sector’s use of technology can be very impressive. However, the creativity involved can also be utilised positively in many other areas, such as the business world.”
