Based in Suzhou, China, Social Language team, formed by young entrepreneurs from US, China and Taiwan, is dedicated to design a fun and effective ways to not only learning, but utilizing new languages to social with real people from around the world.
“If I want to learn a new language, it’s not the language I’m after, it’s the people using it. Language is just a tool for me to communicate with them.” Explained by Social Language co-founder, Rocker Lee. Most language learning apps in the market focus on providing ways to memorizing words, phrases and grammars. Users practice repetitively with a pre-designed machine. Social Language, however, believes that the best way to learn new languages is by practicing, and social with native speakers.
With 5 minutes a day, Social Language let users take step by step voice courses that are designed to be fun and effective. By the end of each course, useful sentences will be learned, practiced and submitted for native speaker’s review. Users will not only get suggestions on how to adjust their accents, but making potential friends and contacts. Users can then search from Social Language’s global user base and start chatting with people they’re interested in! To reward dedicated students, the team hosts different competitions periodically. Currently, they are flying their top Mandarin learning student to China for free.
