Mumbai Police goes after Pirates of Bollywood

BANGALORE, India -- It is a well known fact that piracy is rampant in India. Several reports published from FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) to USTR (United States Trade Representative) have estimated the losses from piracy to be more than a billion dollars. The film industry and the software industry are the worst hit sectors.

Several studies have indicated that terrorists and organized criminals use piracy as a tool to finance their activities. It is believed that piracy's low risk, and high pay offs, makes it an irresistable route for terrorists. RAND Corporations research papers, and recently, a paper released by FICCI, have brought out the linkages between piracy, counterfeiting and terrorism. Some say that every DVD or CD a person buys on the streed adds to a terrorist's kitty.

The Anti-Terror Squad of the Mumbai police appoints a team to unravell the piracy puzzle, and get to the man at the top. Helen, a young, dashing officer, goes after pirates with a vengeance, never seen before. She faces hurdles every step of the way, and discovers puzzling facts about the film industry.

Dr. Kalyan's recently pre-released, Pirates of Bollywood, takes one through a piracy chase not too far removed from reality. Led by Helen, the chase takes the reader through a series of unexpected turns, and starkling revelations. Talking about the terrorist angle, Dr. Kalyan said,"There are several theories of terrorist connection with piracy. While none of them have been substantiated, the linkage on the face of it seems plausible. My second law thriller explores this angle among others."

The novel is available for pre-release in ebook format. You can learn more about the novel, or read a short excerpt at: http://www.kalyankankanala.com/products/pirates-bollywood...
