Portable Hand Washing Test Tool Teaches Proper Hand Hygiene

San Pedro, CA – April 24, 2014 – Infexacheck has introduced a groundbreaking tool to monitor hand washing in hospitals, food preparation facilities, cruise ships, schools and other environments where the risk of hand-transmitted disease can be high. Invented by a physician who witnessed the debilitating consequences of poor hand hygiene, the portable, pen-sized tool is a giant step forward in educating the public about the importance of washing hands in accordance with CDC Guidelines.

"Poor hand hygiene is a major problem,” notes Dr. Anthony Giorgio, Infexacheck’s inventor. “Our hands harbor dozens of potentially pathogenic bacteria and viruses that spread infection in the workplace, at home, in schools, hospitals and of course on cruise ships and the outcome is almost always the same—illness, lost productivity or even death.”

Having witnessed countless, unnecessary infections in patients due to poor hand hygiene by hospital staff, Dr. Giorgio set out to find a way to solve the problem of poor hand hygiene , thus preventing the spread of the norovirus, C.difficile, MRSA and other pathogens. After years of research, he developed Infexacheck, a patent-pending, inexpensive and portable device to evaluate the effectiveness of hand-washing in just a few simple steps.

Dr. Giorgio points out that while hand hygiene measures are mandated in hospitals, restaurants, cruise ships, schools, etc., most people don't follow these measures. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends at least 20 seconds of washing with water and soap; however, the average person spends considerably less time on hand washing and often misses critical areas of the hands. Infexacheck uses a special highlighter pen and UV light that are integrated into a single, pocket-size unit. Users lightly dot the highlighter in areas of the hands most often missed during routine hand washing and then shine the light on the hands to discover areas missed such as the back of the thumb, backs of the fingertips and palm creases.

According to Dr. Giorgio, the device is an ideal training tool for healthcare workers, the cruise industry, school districts, and food preparation employees where it can be distributed to teach proper hand washing techniques individually or in group training. “The device is non-invasive and it’s fun,” he notes. “The majority of people are astounded by areas of the hands they missed even after a good scrubbing. Imagine what the world would be like if more people realized how to properly wash their hands. It would mean better health for us all.”

Infexacheck priced at $19.95 and includes free shipping. The device is available for order at www.infexacheck.com. The website also includes instructions on proper hand hygiene. For more information or to schedule an interview with the inventor, email info@infexacheck.com
