DETROIT -- DETROIT, MI – Saving the best for last, K’Jon released his fourth commercial album entitled MAN as 2013 came to a close. MAN features 11 tracks that get fans out of their seats and on the dance floor. K’Jon has outdone himself with this one! Musical influences like Sam & Dave, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke lace cuts like “Shake It 4 Me”, and “All We Need Is Love”. MAN ‘s composition spans the past five decades.
Much like a Motown-era record, MAN has shown its staying power – climbing in the charts and earning top marks internationally. Released on his independently owned label, Up&Up Records – the new offering features Gwen Foxx, Seven The General and a special remix of the wildly popular This Time (This Time 4 Real) featuring Lyfe Jennings.
"I wanted to make a fun album while paying tribute and continuing the Motown legacy of Detroit,” says the singer. K’Jon rounds out MAN with a dedication to one of Motown’s greatest voices, Marvin Gaye with “Come Get to This”.
Despite no major distribution, the success of MAN continues to top charts. In the UK, it peaked at #2 on the UK Soul Chart receiving stellar reviews from Soultracks.com. The singer’s focus has been on broadening his appeal overseas but he’s never forgotten home.
MAN’s special stateside release will have K’Jon gearing up for a 10-city tour that starts in his hometown, Detroit. “Motown is where it’s at,” says the honorary Motown Alumni. “… To have a ‘Motown’ legacy someone has to still do that type of music.” This album does so in grand style.
Title track and lead single “Man” is a soul-dowsing ballad that speaks to the strength of being a man. K’Jon’s poignant lyrics are amidst doo-wop and heavy chord riffs. – There was some who fought for equality/ there was even one who defied gravity. There was so many who stood out from the rest/ like this one minority who became president.
