Kym Gordon Moore Named 2014 World Book Night Giver

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Favorite Things for a CAUSE announces that Kym Gordon Moore, author of Wings of the Wind: A Cornucopia of Poetry and Diversities of Gifts: Same Spirit, has been selected as one of the 2014 World Book Night Givers for the U.S. Kym will distribute copies of the novel, Waiting to Exhale by American author Terry McMillan. “It is an honor to be selected for the third year in a row, to distribute books on World Book Night in my area,” says Moore.

World Book Night (WBN), held annually on April 23, is designed to help spread the joy and love of reading, while giving out special edition paperbacks by renowned, award winning authors. Among some of this year’s WBN special edition authors are Agatha Christie, Diane Ackerman, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Malcolm Gladwell, Sharon Lathan, Katherine Paterson, Vincent Pratchett, Esmeralda Santiago and Anthony Bourdain. The first celebration of World Book Night was in 2011, located in the UK and Ireland. In 2012, the United States and Germany joined in the commemoration of this annual event.

According to the World Book Night mission, “World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging reading in those who don’t regularly do so. But it is also about more than that: It’s about people, communities and connections, about reaching out to others and touching lives in the simplest of ways—through the sharing of stories. Each year, 30 to 35 books are chosen by an independent panel of librarians and booksellers. The authors of the books waive their royalties and the publishers agree to pay the costs of producing the specially printed World Book Night U.S. editions. Bookstores and libraries sign up to be community host locations for the volunteer book givers.”
