Mt Airy Martial Arts Instructor Inducted into Mt Airy Hall of Fame

The Mt Airy Historical Society has nominated and selected Instructor Luke Kissell from Choe’s HapKiDo Karate in Mt Airy into the Mt Airy Hall of Fame. Choe’s HapKiDo Karate Academy of Martial Arts in Mt Airy has been open and run by Instructor Luke Kissell for more than 20 years. The Martial Arts Classes stress the importance of Community Service and character development, and the Mount Airy Hall of Fame is recognizing this by inducting the business owner and instructor into their elite organization. He will be inducted for his contributions as a Business Owner and Community Service Advocate. The Induction Ceremony will be held on March 18th 2014 to honor this achievement.

When telling his colleagues about this honor, Karate Instructor Luke Kissell said “Over the 23 plus years of teaching [Karate] in Mt Airy I have volunteered and done fundraisers and food/clothing drives for our community and taught the importance of this to our students.” Serving the community is a key tenant of Choe’s HapKiDo Karate, and Luke Kissell has lived up to this in every way possible.

Choe’s HapKiDo Karate is a nationwide organization, and is honored to have Instructor Luke Kissell as a member of the organization. Mr. Kissell is a 4th degree Black Belt in HapKiDo Karate and has dedicated many years to helping spread the various benefits of HapKiDo to the members of the Mt. Airy Community. Through Martial Arts, many kids and adults alike have found an outlet to relieve stress and negative emotions that could potentially build up into developing into possible mental and physical health issues in the future. Through the hard work and dedication of Mr. Luke Kissell countless people from the Mt Airy Community have bettered themselves and the community as a whole.
