Slicify Launches Cloud Computing Startup

Slicify, the latest internet startup to come out of Hong Kong today announced the launch of its new Cloud Computing service that lets anyone with a PC make money by renting out their computer to other users over the internet.

"Cloud Computing is now a multi-billion dollar industry", said company Founder and CTO, Steve Cook. "Slicify lets ordinary individuals like you and me sell our spare compute time in exactly the same way as large companies like Amazon, Google and Rackspace".

The technology involved is complex, because it needs to guarantee security for both the buyer and seller, and relies on special computer software called a Hypervisor that lets a guest run an entire operating system in a completely separate environment on the same computer.

"We’ve spent more time and money on security than any other part of the platform", added Mr Cook. "The system features state-of-the-art security, including end-to-end encryption with secure communications protocols, as well as built-in network security. It is designed from the ground up to be the most secure platform of its kind".

Slicify has already made its platform and software freely available for anyone to use at https://secure.slicify.com.

"Customers are already signing up for the service, because it’s free and a no-brainer. They just install the software and earn money on a machine that would otherwise be sitting idle. Similarly buyers, who previously had to go to services like Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud for large-scale computing, can now get it ‘crowd-sourced’ through Slicify from a broad range of individuals, for a fraction of the price."
