HOUNSLOW, U.K. -- Gishel Ramachandran, a pre-schooler at Hounslow Day Nursery, is one of only very few children to be accepted into the elite society, which primarily aims to provide a stimulating intellectual environment for its members.

Gishel was identified as having the reading age of a six-year-old – one that is double her own age – by a leading educational psychologist in the UK, and her proud parents commented: "We are really delighted to know that Gishel is a gifted child. Thank you to each and every member of staff in the nursery for the continued support and guidance given to Gishel."

The talented tot was first identified as being extraordinarily gifted by staff at Hounslow Day Nursery, which is part of the nationwide nursery chain Asquith. Staff at the nursery started to notice Gishel was clever when, aged two, she began completing activities that far superseded those of other toddlers.

By the time Gishel reached pre-school, staff informed her parents that she was of outstanding ability, which gave them the confidence to go ahead with the Mensa assessment.

The society, which welcomes people from all walks of life whose IQ is in the top two percentile, has members from almost every age group and profession.

Our staff are specially trained to support the individual learning and development of every child, which means that Gishel’s exceptional ability was recognised early and she can now receive the support and guidance she needs to reach her full potential."
