Joe Dunthorne and Craig Roberts in Submarine Swansea at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Saturday 6 July

SWANSEA, U.K. -- It’s been a book and a film, but this weekend Joe Dunthorne’s debut novel Submarine will take the form of a guided tour of Swansea.

The critically-acclaimed author will be joined by actor Craig Roberts to introduce a special screening of the film at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Saturday 6 July at 11.00am followed by a tour of the city at 2.00pm.

Leading the tour, that will explore some of the locations from the book and film by coach and foot, Joe and Craig will reflect on Submarine’s story and share their experiences working on the project, culminating with drinks in the forest from the film.

The event is organised by Literature Wales, the Dylan Thomas Centre and the Film Agency for Wales.

Literature Wales CEO Lleucu Siencyn says “Submarine Swansea is a unique opportunity to travel to locations which feature in the brilliant novel and film with the author and lead actor respectively.

“We can’t wait for Joe and Craig to re-explore their teenage angst with us!”

Jo Furber Swansea Council’s Literature Officer said “We’re looking forward to hosting the screening of Submarine at the Dylan Thomas Centre.

“Attracting big names such as Joe Dunthorne certainly act as a testimonial of the quality writers and poets we attract to participate in our regular events programme”.
