Once again hosted by television presenter Natalie Barr from Channel 7’s Sunrise, the charity ball, which will be held on July 6, has earned a reputation as one of Port Douglas’ most prestigious gala events.
Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort General Manager Lachlan Walker said they would pull out all the stops on the night, thanks to the support of major sponsor Coles and Jetstar.
“This event is now in its third year and it just keeps getting better and better. We have had fantastic support from our sponsors and for the first time ever we are pleased to have Coles partner with us, providing its fresh and local produce as well as raft of great prizes and items to auctioned,” he said.
The night starts at 6.30pm in front of the Glade Pavilion with entertainment by Felix the Fire Dancer. This will be followed by a three-course dinner, designed by executive chef Klaus Keller, along with an exquisite selection of wines and live entertainment by Hip to Soul.
Mr Walker said he hoped to top last year’s charity ball, which raised $14,000 for Childhood Cancer Support.
“There will be fantastic lucky door prizes, silent auctions and a chance to bid for a return trip to Japan courtesy of Jetstar with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Accommodation, among other huge prizes,” he added.
“All proceeds will be given to Redkite, a national charity that supports children and young people up to the age of 24 with cancer and their families from hospital to home.
“Redkite offers essential financial, emotional and educational support with no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, organisations and corporate partners,” Mr Walker added.
Tickets are available online at www.sheratonportdouglas.com for $129 per person. ‘Red Nite’ accommodation packages are also available and include breakfast buffet for two at Lagoons restaurant and two tickets to the Charity Ball for $449* per room per night.
Dress code is cocktail/resort elegance. Pre-dinner drinks will be available from 6.30pm.
Mr Walker said events like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of the local community. “We have been very fortunate to have a number of key sponsors come on board, in addition to Coles and Jetstar to help make this event a success.
