An accomplished mental health expert with nearly 30 years of experience in substance abuse therapy and clinical supervision, Ms. Duarte presently excels as a program director for the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Outpatient Program at the High Point Treatment Center. Since obtaining the role in 2016, she has overseen daily business operations, including the budget and staffing, while also ensuring that clinicians have what they need to help their clients. Likewise, Ms. Duarte organizes events and holidays for staff to ensure positive morale and networks within the community to seek out those in need of assistance. Alongside her work with the High Point Treatment Center, she is the academic case manager and program coordinator for Northstar Learning Centers, Inc.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Duarte gained valuable expertise in the field on the Kitty Dukakis Trauma Unit at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and as a substance abuse therapist for Mental Health Correctional. Similarly, she has honed her experience in the clinical setting through Stepping Stone, a therapeutic program for women suffering from substance abuse, SSTAR, and High Point Treatment Center. Stepping Stone helped her turn her life around when she was in a difficult place, which inspired her to continue paying it forward.
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Duarte contributes to her community as the senior lead at Northstar Learning, a volunteer at her church's Next Step Program, and as a board member for the YWCA. An expert in her field, she earned an associate degree from Bristol Community College in 1996. Subsequently, Ms. Duarte expanded upon her professional knowledge, earning a Master of Education in counseling in psychology and a certificate in advanced graduate studies from Cambridge College.
While her career has been filled with standout moments, Ms. Duarte takes the most pride in being offered her current role without applying for it due to her stellar reputation in the industry. The cornerstone of her success lay with her family and the network of individuals who have given her opportunities over the years. Within the next five to ten years, Ms. Duarte aims to establish a private practice where she will specialize in working with children.
