NEW IPSWICH, NH, May 01, 2023 - Chelsea R. Hatcher has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Mrs. Hatcher is distinguished for four years of dedication to the smallholder farming community. As co-owner of Old Homestead Farm, she oversees operations including raising beef cattle, boarding horses and operating a cooperative store selling products from Old Homestead Farm and other small businesses in the area. The co-op promotes local businesses and makes buying locally sourced products convenient for the community. In the next two years, Mrs. Hatcher expects to grow her herd to 100 head of white-faced cattle and expand the cooperative store to accommodate more small businesses. Upon completion of a greenhouse renovation, the farm will begin to sell produce as well.
As a child, Mrs. Hatcher lived on a non-working historic farm, and her husband, Ben, grew up on the largest dairy farm in Massachusetts. Years later, the couple set out to build a smallholder farm to recreate some of the pleasant memories they enjoyed as children and to provide their two daughters the same joyful childhood. As a result, they created Old Homestead Farm on a parcel of the farm that Mrs. Hatcher's family used to live on. Since founding the farm in 2019, the Hatchers have been proud to see it embraced by the community and featured in local newspapers, including the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, Concord Monitor and FloralDaily.com.
Mrs. Hatcher sought an education at Gordon College, earning a bachelor's degree in Christian ministry in 2014. Today, she is active with the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation and the New Hampshire Beef Producers Association.
