She was involved in passing the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, first implemented on June 21, 2021 and was key in the effort to resettle Uyghur detainees to developing countries after they were kept in Guantanamo Bay even after they were declared innocent and not enemy combatants. In recognition of her efforts, she received the 2019 Freedom Fighter Award and was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Abbas earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Xinjiang University in China in 1988. Within the coming years, Ms. Abbas intends to continue fighting against China's successful efforts in genocide, modern slavery and crimes against humanity. Her goal is to educate people and let them see what kind of threat the Chinese communist regime brings to humanity, both to the Uyghurs and the world, believing if China is not held accountable for these atrocities, there will be grave consequences for generations to come.
