Drawing on more than 40 years of experience in the utilities industry, Mr. Griffin currently excels as the general manager and as the chief executive officer of the Bamberg Board of Public Works, which is part of the municipal government of Bamberg, South Carolina. In this capacity, he specializes in maintaining an industrial and economic base for providing customers with consistently reliable water, wastewater, electric and natural gas utility services. Mr. Griffin also focuses on overseeing the construction of new infrastructure, modernizing customer facing in house systems and managing a diverse workforce.
Prior to his recruitment with the Bamberg Board of Public Works, Mr. Griffin found success as a facilities capital project administrator with the Jacksonville Electric Authority and in Electrification (EV) Research & Development with TVA for a number of years. Between 2006 and 2013, he thrived as the electric utility director for the City of Green Cove Springs Florida. During this period, Mr. Griffin helped secure the necessary funding to improve the Electric Grid, build several new substations and re-established a critical partnership with the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) the provider of electrical power for Green Cove Springs and 33 other municipalities in the state of Florida.
Alongside his responsibilities as an electric utility director, Mr. Griffin held numerous leadership positions with the Florida Municipal Electric Association between 2007 and 2013 including secretary / treasurer and as a Board of Directors Member. Mr. Griffin was also a Board member at FMPA and served on the Executive Committee. In addition to his vast professional network, he attributes a great deal of his success to his passion for elevating the careers of his colleagues. In the coming years, Mr. Griffin intends to devote more attention towards the expansion and modernization of the Bamberg Board of Public Works' infrastructure, while promoting EV initiatives, Grid Resiliency and Green Energy sources.
