Drew has been a member of ASIS International since 2009 previously serving as the Vice Chair of the organization's Healthcare Security Community. He has also held volunteer leadership roles with the International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety (Vice Chair, Upper Mid-West Chapter), Minnesota Association of Healthcare Safety & Security (President), and the Chippewa Valley Public Safety Partnership (Chair).

He holds the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International and maintains the Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) designation From the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety, is certified as a Certified CPTED Specialist (CCPTEDS) by the American Crime Prevention Institute and holds a Certificate in Safety Management (CSM) from The American Society of Safety Professionals. He is also a graduate of University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh's Executive MBA program, the Gavin de Becker Advanced Threat Assessment Academy, and the Virginia State Police's Drug Diversion Investigations School.
