FORT MYERS, Fla. - Dec. 29, 2020 - Quigley Eye Specialists, which is a Southwest Florida leader in the diagnosis and treatment of vision disorders, has acquired OptiExpress, an established optometry practice founded by Dr. J. Michael Witherington.
The acquisition includes the two offices of OptiExpress in Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
OptiExpress and Dr. Witherington join 10 other practices under Quigley Eye Specialists ownership in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. It is the fifth acquisition by Quigley Eye Specialists in the past five months.

By adding two more locations in Lee County, Dr. Quigley said Quigley Eye Specialists can give patients better access to care so that patients can be seen the same day, if needed.
Other Quigley Eye Specialists offices in Lee County are located at 15640 New Hampshire Court in Fort Myers, 2277 First Street in downtown Fort Myers, 6091 South Pointe Blvd. in Fort Myers, 112 Del Prado North in Cape Coral, and 5220 Lee Blvd. in Lehigh Acres. The facial plastic surgery office of Dr. Stephen Prendiville at 9407 Cypress Lake Drive also is part of Quigley Eye Specialists.
Dr. Witherington and OptiExpress will continue to provide care from their offices at 11170 Summerlin Square Road in Fort Myers and 513 Cape Coral Parkway W in Cape Coral. No operational changes are planned because of the acquisition.
Dr. Witherington is the founder and director of OptiExpress. It was established in 1999 in Cape Coral. He created OptiExpress in Fort Myers Beach in 2001. Dr. Witherington has been providing exceptional eye care to these communities for 20 years and has genuinely enjoyed helping his patients see their very best. Dr. Witherington received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1980.
He has built one of the largest and finest optometry practices in the United States and is excited to merge with one of the finest and most respected ophthalmology practices in the country.
