Using production equipment which would normally be doing corporate videos and documentaries to no include live streaming of weddings, funerals, business meetings and training to social media streams from a distance.
Many people are using webcams and cell phone cameras in order to stream these events in order to allow others to participate when travel and group gatherings are restricted. The difference between the webcams and cell phones vs the professional cameras and equipment being used by companies such as ProPics Canada Media Ltd is vast. First of all, the personal cameras and phones people are using have restrictions in quality of video and sound. As the videos are streamed, they have reduced clarity especially when streaming to smart TV's, larger computer monitors etc. The quality of sound and image is no where near the same. A simple example of this is when you watch the news and they display a story using video from cell phones, webcams and dashcams.
The rates are highly reduced compared to the typical rates charged for events and business filming. The reasons are simple. The staff and equipment are better used for the greater benefit of the community instead of sitting idle without any revenue generation. People are not avoiding weddings and funerals etc. by choice but in this manner can still be apart of it. With reduced income of individuals who are under greater pressure to keep costs of events down such as weddings, it is a way of our business in giving back to the communities who have supported us over the past.
We have reduced the rates and through wireless streaming, we can provide remote streaming much like news services including the quality that you would see on live broadcasts being filmed by the professional production teams. We still need to pay staff, costs and commissions to those who are bringing the business to us. Just covering costs is more important while helping others. Many businesses around the globe have had to pivot and adjust in order to survive the pandemic, which we are no different than them.
