Kuester Management Group Urges Increased Safety in HOA Communities this Holiday Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nov. 25, 2020 - With COVID-19 cases continuing to rise across the United States, health officials are urging Americans to take proper precautions, especially with the holidays coming up. HOA communities can also do their part to promote health and safety. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding how homeowners association can encourage members to stay safe while still celebrating.

"It can be disappointing to not be able to travel to see family and friends for the holidays," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "The HOA can help to keep spirits high by planning virtual and socially distant events such as driving through the community to see everyone's holiday lights and decorations, or hosting an online sing-along or concert."

Since many communities have canceled traditional holiday parties, they may need to get creative with alternatives. For example, instead of the normal cookie exchange, have members submit their favorite recipes with a picture of the finished product so other homeowners can try their hand at baking their own. Or put together take-and-make crafts for kids so they have something fun to do during break. Decorating contests are always a fun option as well!

Encourage neighbors to check in with one another. If someone is quarantining due to COVID-19 or potential exposure, a neighbor could offer to drop off groceries or other supplies so they don't have to worry about how to get what they need. They could also help them keep their yard looking nice, put out their trashcans for them, or just call to see if there is anything they can do. Little acts of kindness can go a long way.

"This year has been hard for everyone, but by staying safe this year, hopefully it means we can get things under better control for next year," says Kuester. "Take advantage of video conferencing to keep in touch, drop off gifts on the porch, be vigilant about cleaning and mask wearing, and make the best of a challenging situation."

Kuester can help associations learn to operate remotely more effectively, improve communication with members, and put proper precautions in place.
