OSWEGO, N.Y. - Aug. 3, 2020 - Ron Throop of Oswego, NY is running for Senator of New York's 48th District as a write-in candidate. Since Senator Patty Ritchie is running unopposed for the fourth time, Throop has offered his service to the district, and will complete the two-year term donating his salary to a district non-profit. COVID-19 has made door-to-door signature gathering impossible to do safely, so Throop has decided to run for the office as a write-in candidate.

Throop believes it is unconscionable to have only one choice on the ballot for State Senator. Patty Ritchie and the Republican party most often do not represent district interests.

As a citizen of the 48th (which is gerrymandered enormous), Throop feels it is his duty to donate his time and person to offer a choice to the people of the 48th.

Throop, a registered Democrat, is running as a write-in candidate. He hopes to bring the people's progressive voice to Albany in January 2021.
