WILMINGTON, Del. - July 13, 2020 - All-City Classic 302 League opening weekend blasted into action with big upsets
In Game 1, City Lions took it to DSW, winning 54-46. Randy Morman was Player of the game with 21pts 15rebs, and 1blk. Guard Rashan Henry drained three 3s with a total 13pts, Nate Allen controlled the flow with 11pts, 7rebs, and Eugene held it down. Berto will get into his rhythm in a couple of games. City Lions looked great. DSW are going to have a rough season with their first of many Ls today.
In Game 2, Total Sports and N.N.N. made their All-City debuts. Total Sports are primed to go to the championship this year, taking back the trophy to Jersey with them. They are a matchup nightmare. Big fella Alex Smart was Player of the Game draining five 3s with a total 25pts. Semaj Inge, just back from the TNT tournament, poured in 23pts & 5rebs and Lemiere Talley had 19pts. Anthony Bowens is known for putting excellent teams together. It was tied at halftime, before Total Sports ran away with it. Levi tried to keep N.N.N. in the game, with 17pts, 6rebs. Bruce Kennedy had five 3s with a total 17pts, and James Sanders had 19pts. N.N.N. is very solid with a great backcourt and once the whole team is present, they will make noise.
Game 3 was a high scoring game, a shootout, with Death Row nudging out Run & Gun, 110-92. Both teams were full of shooters and let those shots fly. The teams combined total was a record high 202 points. It was 49-48 at half-time. Mailon Williams was Player of the Game snapping and finishing with 32pts, 8rebs, and 1block. Mailon was complimented with a solid team. Soutiri Sapner could be the best long range shooter in the league, finishing with 33pts, 8 of his field goals 3s. Both teams were short a few players. Run & Gun played well, however they let Death Row go on a 13-0 streak in the second half, when there was 1 point the difference. Demond Vance led Run & Gun with 36 points and 5 rebounds, with 8 of his field goals were 3s. Jake Royal chipped in with 22 points, including seven 3s. The game proved that Death Row is not to be played with this season, while Run & Gun will be a sneaky team in the future.
