SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - July 10, 2020 - A landmark shop famous for selling imported home and garden art from Asian artisans has moved to a new location.

Routes Gallery has relocated from San Anselmo to a more central location in the downtown business district of San Rafael after serving as both a showroom and storefront for more than 16 years.

Company founder and CEO Richard A. Reuther hopes to rebuild another retail oasis at the store's new San Rafael location. Routes has gained a loyal following of meditators, yoga enthusiasts, Asian art collectors, garden buffs and curious shoppers looking for something unusual. The gallery has a reputation in the Bay Area as a peaceful respite from the flurry of everyday life that customers have come to appreciate as an asset to the community.

Reuther cites the advantage to having built close relationships with artisans and craftspeople as the key to operating a small art import business during the COVID-19 era.

"We have developed relationships with our suppliers in Asia whose livelihoods and art traditions we continue to support as part of our mission," he said. "We are also grateful to the local community and as always aspire to serve them."

Reuther hopes to continue offering a unique slice of nirvana for guests shopping the store's large selection of quality Buddhist and Hindu sacred sculptures, Asian Art, and decor for gardens and homes. In addition, the company will continue to uphold its commitment to supporting local artisans and arts across the globe.

"There are many challenges to running a small import business during the COVID-19 era, but through it we have been able to maintain our past relationships and provide a better location for our customers and clients," Reuther said. "We are excited and thankful to be here next to United Markets in San Rafael who have been serving the local community since 1955."
