The Fertile Void Podcast returns for Season Two, The Coveted Silk

BERKELEY, Calif. - July 3, 2020 - The Fertile Void will release Season Two, the continuation of the well-received first season, The Coveted Silk, on Saturday, July 18, 2020. The Fertile Void Podcast is an audio drama spinning a labyrinth of stories set in a lush musical landscape that draw the listener into "the world between the worlds".

"Masterfully spun spells of the most fantastic kind...vivid, hauntingly beautiful." - iTunes review

Gamina, an adolescent girl in 18th century Italy is inducted into the void when bitten by a spider, descending for days into the mad dance known as "taranta". A woman in mid-life reels from the shattering experience of the separation of a seventeen year marriage. Enchanting songs and rich soundscapes weave a phantasmagorical web encompassing talking tarantulas, a golden cape woven by one million spiders, a witch, a priest, and hummingbirds. The Fertile Void explores the relationship between the civilized and the wild, and invites the listener into their own inner state that blurs reality and dream. Lovers of lyrical literature, myth, fairy tale, magical realism, and unusual music are sure to love this podcast.

"...The accompanying music and sound is exceptional… the flow of the narrative effortless and dreamlike…" - iTunes review

Host Midnight Rose says, "This second season will bring new twists and all new music, which is an integral part of the podcast and draws from some of the finest musicians in the Bay Area, California, with music direction by the genius of Dan Cantrell." Created in collaboration with guest musicians, the music ranges from ambient sound textures to full songs. At times mysterious, at times whimsical, the sumptuous sounds tether story to other-worldly dimensions with cello, violin, accordion, piano, drums, musical saw, bass clarinet, and handmade instruments of natural materials.
