DAVISON, Mich. - April 21, 2020 - As the coronavirus pandemic continues, America's food banks are facing higher demand for their services. To support their local food bank, online retailer GreyDock.com recently launched a fundraiser for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan's COVID-19 emergency response fund.
The Flint-based food bank is ramping up efforts to provide hunger relief to the 22 counties it services across eastern Michigan. With mass closures at schools and businesses, many families in this service area are facing increased and potentially prolonged uncertainty. The food bank's distributions give these communities access to fresh produce, protein, and shelf-stable items to alleviate the burden.
The COVID-19 outbreak has increased the overall demand for food across the national's retailers which has resulted in a decline in donated items. Monetary donations are now vital to the food bank's operations as they must purchase more food to distribute to churches, schools and community centers.
GreyDock.com is an avid supporter of the food bank, from attending charity events to group volunteering. The home improvement retailer has set a $2,500 fundraising goal to provide 15,000 meals for those in need.
