CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Feb. 21, 2020 - Living Waters Inc, a faith-based nonprofit is hosting the 2020 Mental Health Summit titled: Building Community Connections for Mental Health on Thursday, April 16th at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church from 9 am to 3 pm.
Living Waters Inc is an independent link to faith-based communities to collaborate and partner with public and private sectors. In recognition of the health and socioeconomic issues facing area residents, Living Waters Inc assists communities to establish and implement new goals. Areas of specialty include Community Collaboration, Community Engagement, Advocacy, Cultural Brokering, Mentoring, Discipleship and Training.
Keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Sheldon R. Shipman. Selected Speakers include the Honorable Carla D. Cunningham, Dr. Dwayne A. Walker, Rev. Sidney E. Phillips, Iman Khalil A. Akbar, Pastor Frank Garcia, Minister Maurice Raley, and Chaplain Harry Burns.
This summit brings together faith communities, behavioral health professionals, civic servants, and community stakeholders to discuss common concerns about accessing mental healthcare and ways to work together to support mental health consumers, their families and caregivers.
Topics include: Navigating the Behavioral Health System; Cultural Competence; Guardianship; Creating Caring Congregations; Trauma; Violence and Mental Health; Spirituality and Religion in Mental Health Recovery; Ex-convicts; Youth Offenders; and Mental Health.
