Not Just October Is Hitting The Road In 2020

BALTIMORE - Jan. 11, 2020 - NOT JUST OCTOBER is hitting the road in 2020. After stellar, sold-out performances in the fall of 2018, Wanda Edwards has assembled her cast and bringing the acclaimed play to different cities across the United States.

Ms. Edwards's 2016 documentary, Colors of Survival, which presented the harsh realities of domestic violence and focused on the hope of surviving, Not Just October continues the discussion. The production's mission is to present the harsh realities of domestic violence through narrative, music, and dance. The play was created to engage, encourage, and empower.

Not Just October is not just a stage play, but an invitation for a conversation. Our homes, workplaces, schools, communities, and where we worship, are all affected by the devastating acts of domestic violence. Friends and family feel helpless, and the children are always collateral damage. Not Just October, through dance, narrative, and song, will help all who attend to begin to listen differently, believe with no judgment, and support with love.

"Not Just October, a play based on domestic violence was inspirational and real! Awesome job…Kudos to all who shared their stories of strength…"

"That was a powerful heart-wrenching transforming and liberating displays of life's struggles to triumph!"

" Please find a way to take this on the road to share your stories and touch others."

"I'm so glad I was able to witness. It was just awesome!"

As a playwright and domestic violence survivor, Ms. Edwards knows firsthand the emotions experienced. After years of being in an abusive marriage, Wanda escaped and made a transcontinental relocation from Montclair, NJ to Phoenix, AZ. Soon after settling, she started the non-profit organization, "A Walk In Her Shoes", which focuses on ministering to victims and survivors of domestic violence. In addition, Wanda became a certified domestic violence advocate. Wanda acknowledges: "becoming an advocate against domestic violence was not an actual decision. It was something that evolved as a result of trying to find my way back to me!" In that self-analysis, Wanda realized there were power and healing in sharing her human story with others.
