Local Children and Special Guests to Sing in Celebration of the Life of Dr. Martin Luther K

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dec. 19, 2019 - The Jacksonville Children's Chorus plans the 11th annual concert, "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing", concert, to celebrate the life and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in song on February 22, 2020.

This annual performance, held at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in San Marco, will begin with the culturally diverse Jacksonville Children's Chorus presentation of the hymn "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing".

The 2:00 P.M. matinee concert performance will feature all 6 of the JCC performance choirs, including the Touring Choir, whose members spent the summer performing eight concerts in 5 European countries.

Atlanta's Morehouse Glee Club will join the Jacksonville Children's Chorus choirs with their own repertoire of performance pieces, providing concert-goers with a truly celebratory experience of Dr. King's achievements.

To convey the depth and meaning this concert holds for the chorus, Adam Hooper, JCC Program Manager, stated, "The Jacksonville Children's Chorus embodies the living memorial that Dr. King and his family fought for, using music to diminish the dividing walls of racial and economic injustice, calling for 'Ev'ry Voice' to be lifted." He continued by saying, "Our mission is not only in artistic excellence, but the aggregate effect of music to create excellence in all human relations. We invite you to identify with the soul-stirring, triumphant music based on, and influenced by, this historical leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase on the Jacksonville Children's Chorus website at https://jaxchildrenschorus.org/events/calendar-of-events/lift-ev-ry-voice-sing/.
