Bowls is Bowls signs development sponsorship agreement with North Notts Community Arena

Bowls is Bowls, the organisation established to encourage all bowls organisations and bowlers of all ages, creeds, colour and abilities to work together, has signed a sponsorship agreement with North Notts Community Arena (NNCA) enabling them to fund a part-time Bowls Development Manager position that will provide two-day per week development support.

As a further part of the development support that will be linked with the agreement, the NNCA will be referred to as the ‘Northern Bowls Development Hub’ for Bowls is Bowls going forward.

This latest sponsorship agreement is a further part of Bowls is Bowls on-going commitment to the promotion and development of the sport of Bowls, and follows soon after the double sponsorship announcement of the Short Mat Players Tour (SMPT) Bowls is Bowls World Pairs and also the Bowls is Bowls World Fours and also The Open Singles Circuit (OSC) for the 2019/20 season which was announced last month.

Commenting on this latest sponsorship agreement, Boul Traders Chief Executive, Mark Courtney, whose brainchild Bowls is Bowls is, stated, “This is another major commitment to the development of Bowls that we (Bowls is Bowls) are proud to provide. With this vital support and with the additional development support role, our aim is to see Bowls progress to a new level in the area, with more involvement and participation within the local community.”

The North Notts Community Arena (NNCA) has gone from strength to strength and has nurtured many links with local people, organisations, companies and facilities over the past decade. Run by Nigel Turner and his team of dedicated volunteers, since 2006 North Notts Community Leisure Limited has provided leisure and community facilities for the health and well-being of local people, taking over the old Bassetlaw Leisure Centre, and renaming it the NNCA which has led to the Arena being recognised as Worksop’s leading entertainment and sporting venue. Saved from closure in 2018 by generous public donations, the arena has become an inspirational place to be, given that it’s a community facility, providing an excellent entertainment venue that is open to all, offering bowls and Pétanque, whilst also supporting disability bowls and junior snooker.

Renowned as being Bassetlaw's home for Sport, Leisure and Entertainment, the company and staff are continually striving towards making the site a first -class facility.

North Notts Community Leisure Limited is a not for profit organisation with charitable status, therefore, any surpluses achieved, are re-invested back into the venue.

All of which has followed September’s launch day for Bowls is Bowls held in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The ‘Bowls is Bowls’ launch day included various events in and around Daventry with Scottish bowling world-record breaking legend, Alex ‘Tattie’ Marshall MBE alongside another legendary medal-winning member of England’s Commonwealth Games bowls team, David Bolt ‘Bolty’.

The launch and subsequent events provided a clear statement of the organisations intention to bring all forms of Bowls at all levels and platforms together to help promote the sport, whilst demonstrating the openness and limitless opportunities for the sport to reach out into communities, via hospitals, care home facilities, youth clubs and other related areas.

Bowls is Bowls is the brainchild of Boul Traders Chief Executive, Mark Courtney, himself a keen bowler since childhood and a Level 1 Coach Bowls Coach, member of Bowls Northamptonshire & Bowls England.
